Who we are looking for?

Healthcare professionals are used to dealing with life and death. But the current pandemic has not only increased the workload to unmanageable levels but has also created a whole new set of challenges: from the daily fear for their own and their family’s health to witnessing patients dying in isolation, etc. Coaching people who are experiencing such a tremendous amount of physical, mental, and emotional stress is not an easy task. This is why we need to ensure that the Coaches taking part in this project are sufficiently equipped to effectively support their clients in what might be one of the most difficult periods of their lives.

Please see below for the required criteria to qualify for this program:

  • ICF credential in good standing - ACC, PCC, MCC - (For more information about ICF credentials and requirements, please visit the ICF website: https://coachfederation.org/icf-credential
  • Experience supporting clients dealing with strong emotions, stress, burnout, trauma, or grief.
All coaches are required to attend 3 hours of any Mandatory Coach Training if they do not have any prior training or experience in the areas of therapy, trauma, medical coaching, crisis coaching (examples include coaching refugees, coaching in humanitarian situations).
  • Interest in this type of work, and a strong commitment to this project (please see below: “Know what you are committing to”).
  • A clear understanding of the difference between coaching and other modalities, such as therapy/counseling. It is indispensable to know when we have reached a limit as a Coach and need to refer a client to another health professional.

Know what you are committing to...

Supporting a Coachee who’s experiencing extreme physical and emotional stress can be a challenging experience for a Coach too. It is quite different from “typical” life or business coaching. Please take the time to reflect on this before signing up to this project.

If you are ready to move forward, please know that by signing up, you are committing to the following:

  • At least 6 hours of pro bono coaching over a period of 12 months, before April 30th, 2021
  • New clients’ contracts will be accepted until February 28th, 2021, to be able to offer the 6 free coaching sessions by the end of the project
  • Max. 2 hours of free coaching sessions per week
  • Mandatory Coach supervision
  • Specific training to prepare you for this program (please see below)

As a first step, please check the Coaches Mandatory Learning Tools below and complete the 4 mandatory learning experiences listed (healthcare heroes overview, supervision overview, mental health referral guidelines, and mandatory coach training) as well as the short survey on your learning.

We want to ensure that our Coaches get a chance to present their unique personality and expertise while offering the potential Coachees the necessary information to make an informed decision.
